YU-BALCAH: THE JUNGLE OF A THOUSAND VOICES

National model of conservation and environmental protection

It is the first privately owned, citizen-run protected natural area, voluntarily and perpetually dedicated to its protection. It was officially declared on June 10, 2003.

Mature forest in excellent state of conservation

Its vegetation is a unique association of Canacoite medium evergreen forest (Bravasia integerrima) and Cabeza de mico high forest (Licania platypus), an endangered ecosystem with unique species.

The Canacoite, a species of great ecological value and in danger of extinction

The Canacoite supports wetlands; its roots are home to fish, birds, and amphibians; it regulates flooding and acts as a sponge that accumulates and filters water, absorbing toxins, pesticides, and other waste.

Conservation, research and sustainability

It is an eco-tourism space that promotes environmental actions aimed at adapting to and mitigating climate change.
